Kate Silverton is a popular presenter of BBC news, current affairs and entertainment programs in the UK. She has won plaudits for her reporting from Iraq, and is no stranger to conflict, having covered several of the world’s troubled and beleaguered regions. Recently she was in Afghanistan reporting from the front line. She regularly anchors the One O’clock, Six O’clock and Ten O'clock news for BBC 1 in the UK and presented her own weekly radio show for BBC Five Live, debating the week’s big stories with expert guests and politicians. She has also presented an eclectic range of programs, including BBC2’s The Speaker, Big Cat Live, My Family at War and Propertywatch.
Kate is a mainstay reporter for Panorama and presented the BBC feature “Ultimate Wild Water”, winning huge acclaim for overcoming her fear of open water to tackle some of Britain’s most notorious waters by kayak. She has also appeared on Have I Got News for You and raced on Top Gear, in which she tackled in extremely wet conditions.
Kate is an active supporter of charities and has twice taken part in the London triathlon to raise money for the SPARKS charity. She is a keen traveler since her first expedition with Operation Raleigh (now Raleigh International) to Zimbabwe in 1990 and has subsequently travelled extensively throughout Africa and the Middle East, most recently visiting Lesotho, Uganda and Oman. These experiences, immersing herself within hugely disparate cultures around the globe, have continued to prove the driving force for her reporting from some of the most troubled and beleaguered areas of the world.
It is this integrity and broad experience in both business and journalism that has enabled Kate to interview major political, military and showbusiness figures, while also chairing conferences and debates for some of Britain’s largst organizations such as BT, Royal Bank of Scotland, KPMG, The Royal Navy and Transport for London.
Kate graduated from the University of Durham with a BSc in Psychology. Before that she studied Arabic and Middle Eastern history for a year, fuelled by an interest in Middle East politics. This interest developed following a stay on a Kibbutz in Israel and travels with Bedouin tribesmen in Egypt. Kate is married with one child and resides in London.

We have had good hosts in the past, but Kate surpassed them all. She is not only highly professional, grasping the nuances of a specialised industry sector, but comes over as an incredibly nice, likeable person. Her support for our chosen charity, Help for Heroes, boosted contributions to a fantastic amount. We had a great deal of feedback, 100% of which was positive. We have already asked about her availability for next year's event.
