Kelly Wallace, a former broadcast news journalist and mother of two, became so passionate about women’s issues and the power of women online, she left network news for the digital space to join NBC's iVillage as its Chief Correspondent and Executive Director of Digital Video.
Wallace serves as host and executive producer for video content focusing on issues women care about most, including iVillage 5/Your Don’t Miss List, a weekly show featuring stories women might have missed, The Conversation Thread, also weekly, showcasing a robust roundtable of opinionated women discussing the issues women are talking about online and Woman of the Week, a weekly salute to a woman we find inspiring. She’s also executive producer of iVoices on iVillage, the brand’s unique franchise featuring 25 real women (and men!) contributing video stories on the issues they care about most.
Wallace, who is the winner of a 2012 Gracie Award for Outstanding Reporter/Correspondent, has conducted several exclusive interviews with newsmakers for iVillage. Most recently, she sat down with First Lady Michelle Obama as part of iVillage's new Guest Editor program. It was one of the most informal and most in-depth interviews the first lady has ever done. Kelly was also one of only five reporters who traveled with Mrs. Obama for her Let's Move anniversary tour. She has also participated in other roundtable interviews with the first lady and has done three live interviews with Secretary Kathleen Sebelius of Health & Human Services, including one which took place during the White House Conference on Bullying Prevention . Her other exclusive interviews include Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Biden, Elizabeth Warren, former White House Consumer Czar, Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas, reality show star and best-selling author Bethenny Frankel, Meredith Vieira, former co-host of Today, Michele Tafoya, the new sideline reporter for NBC’s Sunday Night Football, veteran CNBC anchor Sue Herera and Tamron Hall, MSNBC Anchor and Today substitute host.
Wallace regularly appears on Today to discuss reporting from iVillage, such as the results of special surveys of the iVillage community, and also frequently appears on MSNBC’s Jansing & Co. to give the women's perspective on the news of the day. Her other MSNBC appearances include Now with Alex Wagner and Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd.
Weekly, Wallace also makes regular appearances on NBC local stations on behalf of iVillage and has written, reported and produced a number of special reports that have aired on NBC stations nationwide.
Kelly’s career has spanned across news divisions at CBS, CNN and FOX News Channel. She’s covered everything from the White House (her favorite reporting beat!) to the Mideast to national campaigns, and enjoyed serving as substitute anchor on shows from CNN’s American Morning to the CBS Weekend News. In high school, she dreamed of becoming a television reporter, and years later got her start as an on-air reporter at the CBS affiliate (KRQE-TV) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That post led to a correspondent position at FOX News Channel and then to CNN and CBS.
After the birth of her first daughter six years ago, Kelly grew incredibly passionate about issues affecting moms and became a contributor to PLUM, the first-ever pregnancy and parenting magazine for women 35 years and older.
Two years ago, she decided she needed to find a way to play a full-time role in the women’s digital space. Her journey took her to iVillage.
Born in Brooklyn, Kelly graduated magna cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of sciences degree in economics. She lives in New York City with her husband and two daughters.
