Emmy Award-winning journalist Shaun Robinson is the weekend co-anchor and correspondent for the entertainment news show Access Hollywood and author of Exactly As I Am: Celebrated Women Share Candid Advice with Today’s Girls on What it Takes to Believe in Yourself. The collected wisdom of both superstar women and everyday teenagers on building self-esteem was born out of Shaun’s passion for helping girls become more comfortable in their own skin and setting them on the road to becoming tomorrow’s leaders.
Shaun has contributed reports to the Today Show, MSNBC, CNN and NBC Nightly News, and has been a guest host for The Joy Behar Show on HLN/CNN as well as a guest panelist on Larry King Live. She has co-hosted The View and the official pre-shows for the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards and NBC’s Rose Parade. She won an Emmy for her live coverage of A Grand Night in Harlem for the Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame and has been a featured columnist on Essence.com and in Cosmo, as well as a guest editor for DOVE’s Campaign for Real Beauty. Shaun was also invited by the Obama Administration’s U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas to speak to girls on the island about self-esteem issues.
Shaun has taken on acting roles in films including, Bruce Almighty, America's Sweethearts, and Dr. Dolittle 2, and has appeared in various television series including Law & Order, MONK, Everybody Hates Chris, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Charmed, Days of our Lives, The Proud Family, The Parkers, and Half & Half. She has also been featured in magazines such as InStyle, Self, Essence, Cosmo, People, Life & Style, Ok!, Vibe, and Precious Times.
Before joining the world of entertainment, Shaun was a reporter for WSVN-TV in Miami, where she anchored coverage of the Clinton impeachment hearings and the devastation of Hurricane Georges. Prior to moving to Miami, she was an anchor and reporter for KEYE-TV in Austin, Texas, where she earned an American Women in Radio and Television award for her series Profiles in Power focusing on women who made an impact in Central Texas. Her series Women and Cancer for WISN TV, Milwaukee, earned her an Associated Press Award.
Off the red carpet, Shaun devotes her time to many charitable organizations. She sits on the board of Girls, Inc. and has served as the official spokesperson for the Los Angeles County "Share Your Heart, Share Your Home" program, helping find permanent homes for minority children awaiting adoption. She has also volunteered for JumpStart, the national literacy organization aimed at making sure every child in America enters school ready to succeed.
Shaun is a native of Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta.
