Victor Cruz is a wide receiver with the NFL’s New York Giants. Cruz attended Paterson Catholic High School in New Jersey and completed a post-graduate semester at Bridgton Academy in Maine.
He went on to play football at the University of Massachusetts where he is ranked fourth on the all-time UMass receptions list, despite the fact that he didn't start a game until his junior season. Cruz was named a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association wide receiver in 2008 and 2009.
In 2010 Cruz went undrafted and was later signed by the New York Giants. After a successful preseason he was then selected as part of the Giants' 53-man regular season roster. Cruz played in three games at the start of the season before a hamstring injury placed him on injured reserve for the remainder of the year.
In the 2011 season, Cruz played a vital role in the Giants’ success. Cruz finished the 2011 season with a single season franchise record for receiving yards and was named Second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press. In addition, he helped the Giants beat the Patriots 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI and was named as a Pro Bowl alternate.
Cruz, a fan favorite, is well-known for his salsa celebrations following a touchdown. He released his autobiography, Out of the Blue, in July 2012 which quickly became a New York Times bestseller.
